Product Overview
Fully automatic robotic polishing machine designed for die-cast aluminum chair bases (five-star base / star base). Integrates deburring, grinding, buffing and mirror finishing in one cell — replaces 3-5 manual operators, delivers consistent Ra ≤ 0.4 μm surface quality at up to 120 pcs/hour cycle time.
Key Features
  • 1 One-Cell, Multi-Process Integration — Deburring, grinding, buffing, and mirror finishing completed in a single robotic cell. No part transfer between stations — reduces cycle time by 40% vs. multi-station manual workflow.
  • 2 Consistent Mirror Finish on Complex Geometry — 6-axis robot with force-controlled spindle maintains uniform contact pressure across the star-shaped arms and central hub of chair bases — Ra ≤ 0.4 μm on every piece, zero human inconsistency.
  • 3 Built for Aluminum Die-Cast Mass Production — Dedicated fixturing for five-star bases (Ø 600-720 mm). Servo-driven rotary table supports 120 pcs/hour throughput with < 3% cycle-time variation across shifts.
  • 4 Dust-Free, Operator-Safe Enclosure — Fully enclosed polishing cell with integrated dust extraction — eliminates airborne aluminum particulate, meets OSHA / EU occupational health standards. One operator can manage 2 cells.
  • 5 Fast Changeover, Low Programming Threshold — Offline programming with 3D CAD import — new chair base model changeover in under 30 minutes. No robot teaching experience required.

Working Process
Step 1 — Loading
Operator places die-cast chair base onto dedicated fixture on rotary table. Fixture auto-locates and clamps within 3 seconds.
Step 2 — Deburring
Robot arm with flap wheel removes parting-line flash and casting burrs from all edges, including star-arm tips and cable-routing holes.
Step 3 — Grinding
Contact wheel levels surface defects (flow marks, porosity) to prepare uniform baseline for polishing.
Step 4 — Buffing
Cotton/sisal wheel with compound removes grinding lines, builds pre-mirror surface.
Step 5 — Mirror Finishing
Final pass with loose-stitch cotton wheel achieves Ra ≤ 0.4 μm mirror surface ready for anodizing, powder coating, or chrome plating.
Step 6 — Unloading
Rotary table indexes back to loading position. Operator unloads, robot cell continues to next piece.
Frequently Asked Questions
What chair base sizes can this machine handle?
The standard fixture covers five-star bases from Ø 600 mm to Ø 720 mm with height up to 150 mm. Custom fixtures for non-standard sizes (e.g. four-leg base, sled base) are available on request.
Can it polish both mirror and satin finishes?
Yes. Switching between mirror polish (Ra ≤ 0.4 μm) and satin/brushed finish (Ra 0.8-1.6 μm) only requires changing the polishing wheel and adjusting program parameters — no hardware modification needed.
How long does it take to set up a new chair base model?
Under 30 minutes for a new model. Import the 3D CAD file, define the polishing path offline, load the program, and run. No robot teaching experience is required.
What surface quality can I expect after polishing?
Standard mirror finish achieves Ra ≤ 0.4 μm, which is ready for anodizing, powder coating, or chrome plating. For pre-plate requirements (Ra ≤ 0.2 μm), an additional fine-finishing stage can be added.
